Constellation Founders Capture The Hearts & Interests of The Zendetta Community

An AMA You Wished You Didn’t Miss

Constellation is a software infrastructure tool that removes the financial and organizational cost of insecure data pipelines and bad data. It provides a secure and tamper-proof audit trail that simultaneously validates your data, allowing early visibility for data management teams into downstream issues, preventing bad logic across automated systems.

The masterminds behind this top 200 digital currency project are now launching a new exchange platform called The Lattice Exchange.

Lattice is a decentralized finance (DeFi) application built with Ethereum and Constellation’s Hypergraph Transfer Protocol (HGTP). Their vision is to advance and modernize the world’s financial trading solutions for crypto assets. Lattice promises to empower users and liquidity providers alike with advanced AMM algorithms.

Drawing global interests of Thought Leaders, investors and media outlets, Ben Jorensen and Mateo Gold still make time out of their busy schedule to touch base one-on-one with communities and answer to their impressive technology. The Zendetta Community welcomed Ben, Mateo and the Lattice Team with tough questions. The text from this October 10, 2020 event will keep tech geeks and finance professionals fully engaged until the end. Please enjoy the text recap and reach out to the Constellation and Lattice Communities for any questions you may have for founders and directors.

great

Very excited to have the Lattice team on today, might be one of the most exciting projects I’ve seen this year.

So, just a quick introduction to the Lattice Exchange project, before we let Ben and Mateo introduce it in their own words, and add in anything we may have missed; Lattice.Exchange aims to become a comprehensive DeFi trading solution, using the power of interoperability and DAG architecture to address lots of the scaling issues that currently plague the market.

Thank you Andrew!

Thank you, yes there is certainly a lot of industry interest around Lattice

That’s obviously just a very top-level overview, so over to you Ben & Mateo, please tell us a bit more about Lattice in your own words

We have been overwhelmed by the amount of sophisticated interest.

Absolutely.

totally. I’m Mathias COO and Co-Founder of Constellation and Lattice. I’ve been in crypto since the early days of BTC and have a career as entrepreneur, investor and fortune 500 behind me. Lattice is our new flagship project on the Constellation Hypergraph as the largest completely decentralized and scalable infrastructure in the industry.

Lattice Exchange is really a best in class — or an aggregation of many DeFi projects — that will be built on Constellation’s scalable protocol.

Our focus is to build an MVP that is on par with 1inch and Uniswap (aggregated liquidity pools and multiple AMM’s that are token/coin specific. Our second phase will be to port trade settlements onto Constellation’s network (zero transaction fees) and provide cross-chain interoperability.

As Mathias mentioned, we are two of the four co-founders of Constellation Network and have built a decentralized community and network from scratch. We understand crypto and blockchain rather well and are excited to push Lattice as our first crypto related project to be built on Constellation’s ecosystem.

We also have some notable backers including FBG Capital in Asia, Alphabit Fund, Real Satoshi, Chronos (Russia), and many many MANY more. We actually have one of the largest institutions in crypto backing us (which we haven’t mentioned).

Now, on the zero transaction fees and Constellation Network points that got mentioned… the first thing that piqued my curiosity when I first read about this is the concept of it working alongside the DAG (or Directed Acyclic Graph, if we’re being formal). Now, a lot of people new to blockchain might never have heard of a DAG, and those who’ve been in the space a bit longer may have heard of them, but only in the context of a payment coin like NANO. So, speed, scalability and costs are all strengths, but — to the best of my knowledge — DAGs have always fallen down at the hurdle of smart contracts and doing more sophisticated things than simply transferring value from point A to point B.

What’s your approach in blending that kind of DAG speed with the more technical aspects of DeFi, exchanges, etc?

Great question.

phew, last time I typed that much for a question, we just had Bill Drummond say “I’m not answering that”.

> Skiznilly

> phew, last time I typed that much for a question, we just had Bill Drummond say “I’m not answering that”.

We have blockchain veterans today

DAG is an architecture that is used to organize systems where data is distributed. The tricky thing about a DAG is running a consensus mechanism on top of DAG — which is a non-linear and graph based database. The consensus mechanism was the trickiest thing to figure out as it is essential to organizing and securing our network — and would also serve as the mechanism to effectively use a DAG for big data — scalability.

Smart contracts have served their purpose in getting people interested in blockchain from a high level. However, there is ver little in the way of quality assurance in Smart Contracts. Additionally, Smart Contracts are only cryptographically securing numeric values. This is not a robust solution for real world developers that program software and applications. Our solution to smart contracts is/are state channels in a micro-service framework- which is a way for developers to cryptographically secure more than just numeric values.

Micro-services are the glue in software — they connect various applications together through data. Think of Facebook for example — Facebook is a compilation of micro-services (news feed, profiles, photos) that all interconnect to make FACEBOOK.

Constellation is enabling an ecosystem of micro-services that can interoperate.

So you would be developing a framework toolkit that a developer would be able to use to create DApps on your blockchain?

DAGs are complicated — but they are used in centralized server architectures to organize big data. We are just taking what is already being done in centralized big data and taking it into a decentralized ecosystem.

On another note, Constellation has zero transactions (or optional). We wanted to provide a base layer protocol that had an option to add fees on top. We didn’t want a base layer that had fees programmed into the core protocol — this would prevent scalability from an economic perspective.

For example, if I want to get a bank loan and I go the my bank and ask for a loan, they offer me a loan at 5% interest. If I go across the street, the new bank offers me a loan at 2%. I ask the new bank

How did you get such low interest rates?” The bank goes “well, money is near ZERO for us to lend out.”

I guess you know which bank I am going to go with for my loan

Our approach to blending DAG and DeFI is to provide staking of DAG and enable cross-chain liquidity with the ERC-20 ecosystem. We will be the first to offer this.

Think of Lattice as the Financial Arm of Constellation

Loving the discussion so far. Adoption of next gen blockchain protocols can be a challenge for the typical investor, without much familiarity about solidity or competitive advantages between blockchains. How are you going to leverage your partners and stakeholders to ensure that the Constellation and Lattice can carve out a lasting recognition for itself, regardless of market cycles? — Che/ZeTeam

Ah, I was about to ask about interoperability. Quality of tech and scalability is always worth considering, but given the head start that the Ethereum ecosystem has in terms of DApps and Developers, it would be shooting yourself in the foot to close yourself off from that ecosystem.

So with Lattice.Exchange, it would be possible to participate in trading on Ethereum and in ETH-based DeFi products pretty much the way people are accustomed to on Ethereum and Uniswap natively (minus perhaps some crazy gas fees?)

Loving the amazing discussion here, and the great questions from ZeTeam

Two years ago the industry was touting the interoperability of blockchains as the next big topic. Now, two years later we are coming to a state where this interoperability is starting to show shape. However, in contrast to the landscape we saw in 2017 there are not as many truly decentralized and scalable ecosystems out there as one would have anticipated. That means DAG and the Hypergraph are in an excellent position to showcase Lattice as a cross-chain product built on a scalable infrastructure. The cool thing is DAG is built for cross-chain interoperability and its one of its strongest features. Therefore the tokenization and exchange of tokenized value across all ecosystems is what Lattice is achieving to do. Like Ben said, Lattice is the financial hub for tokenized value across ecosystems.

Yes, so trading on Lattice encompasses all the features we are used from leading Defi products. However in its last buildout stage it will route trading through the Hypergraph and thus decrease trading fees and settlement time, especially if you are an active trader on the DeFi ecosystem.

Great question. I think that Constellation and DAG is rather complicated for most people to understand and Lattice Exchange is making it way easier to understand Constellation and the vision of our base layer protocol.

For this effort we have brought on about 8 people to drive marketing — some incredible partners for marketing the vision of Lattice in conjunction with Constellation. Lattice is an articulation of Constellation’s protocol — near zero trade settlement fees ARE because of a zero transaction fee network; faster and more complex AMMs ARE because of a scalable network from a technological perspective.

Our new partners have brought more awareness to this project than any single effort we have done. We are really building out our presence in Asia and are focused on becoming a household name in crypto.

haha, yes, that was a rough one

Final question I can think of is that we heard that your AMM algorithms “will go the extra mile to create more profitable opportunities for investors. For example, the AMM algorithms used are unique as they have several mechanisms that would make trading more fun and profitable!”

Could you shed a bit more light on this please, how do you make trading more fun and profitable?

> Skiznilly

> Ah, I was about to ask about interoperability. Quality of tech and scalability is always worth considering, but given the headst…..

To answer the ease of use — yes. Uni made it super user friendly. Our goal is to replicate that but to lower transaction fees and incentivize trade volumes on Lattice. When we port over to DAG, we will be introducing some really cool things around deposit and withdraw functionality that gives users unique access and permissions to their keys. This will tie in the governance of Lattice as well.

> Skiznilly

> Final question I can think of is that we heard that your AMM algorithms “will go the extra mile to create more profitable opport….

So here is the thing: Uniswap was extremely successful with its AMM algo that basically created much of the industry we see now. However, it comes with shortcomings and Lattice is solving some of these shortcomings. For one: Most AMMs out there are inefficient for certain trading pairs while more efficient for others. Lattice will have AMMs that are selectable based on the pair thus optimizing slippage, trading fees and the ROI for the trader

In the end Lattice has the trader in the mind and the goal is to reduce the risks while increasing the ROI.

> :open_mouth: Am I reading this correctly? Is Lattice addressing the “Not your keys, not your coins” problem in some way?

yes, that is a serious issue in the industry and one that has caused a lot of problems and losses. Indeed, we are having some interesting ideas for the final buildout stage how users can maintain more control of their key while interacting with a decentralized ecosystem.

ZeTeam, are you good? can we unmute, and see what our people has?

Thanks for joining the AMA here and it’s given some valuable information to go and research on trying to understand how DAG/Constellation works. I’m wearing my investment hat right now and we are seeing an influx of exchanges being launched and feel the market is highly saturated, so I’m trying to see how Lattice is a game changer and will start taking a portion of Uniswap market share. The WP sounds great on how Lattice will solve ETH scaling issues and then I got to the part about traders want highly liquid pools and we will be using Uniswap LP to provide high liquidity pools. If this is the case, doesn’t this mean Lattice will face the same high gas fees, order duration etc as ultimately it has a dependency on Uniswap liquidity pools.

Good here

Well — it is a multi-phase approach where we first capture volume and user adoption where liquidity exists. So Yes, you will still be subjected to similar fees on Day 1. In Phase 2, we begin to port settlements (and deposits and withdrawals) over to Lattice on Constellation where those fees will be reduced dramatically, if not free. This is our land grab.

I believe you said the goal is for lattice to be on par with Uniswap. What is the one biggest flaw with uniswap in your team’s mind and how would lattice address it?

Who do you view as some of your competitors in the space? After rollout, what can your community do to organically promote Lattice?

> George

> I believe you said the goal is for lattice to be on par with uniswap. What is the one biggest flaw with uniswap in your team’s m

From an initial user experience and user interface. The largest flaw is that it is built on Ethereum and thus traders are subjected to three fees: a) deposit b) trade settlements c) withdrawals. Also, if a black swan event or market crash occurs, the average retail investor in DeFi could be front-run by the network.

> George

> I believe you said the goal is for lattice to be on par with uniswap. What is the one biggest flaw with uniswap in your team’s m

As we said trade routing, fees, slippage are the main issues and can be optimized. Also multi asset and cross-chain pools are not allowed and we will introduce that.

The biggest thing is the cross-chain liquidity connecting very powerful ecosystem with each other and cross-pollinating use cases and value between them
